Plaid with red.

Since simplicity and comfort have been promoted and elevated recently, we can wear plaid outside your garden, skate park or college routine. It is widely acceptable style attribute. And no, you don't need a straw hat to make the best out of it. All you need is a sense of style and suitability of your outfit for this or that situation, thereby make sure you do not wear a plaid shirt with jeans shorts to the theater, instead wear , let's say, a sheer and slick plaid maxi or midi with a close-fitting white collared shirt.

As for me, I wasn't going to attend a performance or anything out-of-range serious and posh. I simply was trying to nail my off-duty look. Relaxed chic is almost on the verge of turning into frumpy. A little bit of frumpy is good though, if it is neatly framed with style and tasteful approach.
I paired my Quicksilver plaid shirt with black, strict and streamlined. So the look still came out to be pretty relaxed but polished.  And nothing finishes the look like a bright red lip color.  Red is a refined color, saturated and passionate. Somebody can pull it off, somebody can't . But it adds a lot class.
Optional : throw a blazer on and here is a school-girl outfit, naïve and cute, like these preppy girls from private schools. That is one of my have styles despite "preppy" may sound slightly negative and beaten-up. You gotta incorporate a dollop of exquisity and uniqueness to walk away from that cliché. But no matter what, wear it with pride, because it was your own choice , that you are, surely, should be confident about.
